2 CDs -The Soul & The Spirit with of course the level of quality you would expect from Mr Peterson. Stalwarts of all things Afro funky Manu Dibango (New Bell) and Fela Kuti (Ye Ye De Smell) are in there, plus classy tracks from Antibalas (Indictment) and the ‘tradi-modern’ sound of Konono No 1 . On a clubbier vibe remixs bounce in from Carl Craig – the superb ‘Angola’ from Cesaria Evora and the deep and dirty ‘Shelter Main Mix’ of Blaze & Palmer Brown’s ‘Jump 4 Luv’ . Of course the brilliant Thieverey Corporation pop up again (they certainly get around on compilation CDs) this time with David Byrne and ‘Hearts A Lonely Hunter’.
