The dates have been set for next year’s Afro-Pfingsten Festival in the town of Winterthur, Switzerland. The Festival of African-based world music will take place from 21st of May to 1st June 2009.  It is the Festival’s 20th Jubilee and marks their final year at the legendary Halle 53 in Winterthur.  The festival includes Concerts, Workshops, a FairTrade Fair, a World Market, an African Market and a Film Festival.  We are still waiting to hear about the artists who will be performing.

November

18^th Nov - An Intimate Evening with Beth Nielsen Chapman + support Jo Hamilton : Glee Club (7.30pm)

Beth’s songs have found an audience across the world, her music has shown up on ER, Dawson’s Creek, Providence, Felicity and in movie soundtracks, including “The Prince of Egypt, “Message In A Bottle”, “The Rookie”, “Where The Heart Is” and “Practical Magic”. Mega-hit “This Kiss”, ASCAP’S 1999 Song Of The Year, sung by Faith Hill garnered her a Grammy nomination. That same year Beth was chosen as Nashville NAMMY’S Songwriter of the Year and was inducted into The Alabama Music Hall Of Fame.

With three albums, ’On The Side’ & ;Smoke Of Home’ and new album ‘Get Yourself a Wife’ featuring a selection of songs by Northern Bards from 1750 to 1950 reinterpreted by the duo.  under their belts they are fast making waves amongst the British folk / roots scene with captivating songs, beautiful harmonies, northern humour and impeccable musicianship.
