Bulgarian Vocalists Perunika Trio tour Britain
The Bulgarian vocal group Perunika Trio are currently on tour around the UK this Summer. The three young women Eugenia Georgieva, Dessislava Vasileva and Jasmina Stosic carry on the great choral tradition of the east European Slavic countries such as Bulgaria, Macedonia and Russia, yet have distilled the complex harmonies into just three voices. They met through the London Bulgarian choir and formed the Perunika Trio in 2005.
Their songs feature beautiful and haunting acoustic harmonies and a sound that is rooted in the forests and plains of southern Bulgaria. With songs traditional and nostalgic, they invoke an earlier age where singing and vocal harmony were held in the greatest esteem.
Their debut album "Introducing . . . Perunika Trio" is out now on World Music Network, but the trio are about to enter the studio at the end of this month to start recording a new album.
