C.J. Chenier - 'The Desperate Kingdom Of Love'
[World Village 468041]
Starting with the PJ Harvey composed title track the mood is set, this is not an all out party album coming as it does on the back of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 which badly hit his home town of Port Arthur. Recorded live in the studio with The Fry Pharmacists - Scott McEwen, Adam Mujica and Joe Deleault there's still a couple of boppers including 'Bogalousa Boogie' which is dedicated to Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown and one of four tracks written by his father Clifton. There are also tracks from Hank Williams (Lost On The River) and closing with Van Morrison's apt hope for the future 'Comfort You'. Graham Radley
