Description: Los Chinches are one of the most exciting and cutting edge acts to emerge from the new Latin scene; a combination of Peruvian percussionists and London bred guitar and keyboard players creating an epic new sound that harnesses the psychedelic twists of Peruvian Cumbia and the Punk and Ska spirit of London. Namely they draw upon the style of Cumbia developed in Peru in the 1960s - known as 'Chicha' – which, along with their unique rocking tropical energy, makes for blistering live performances and an ever-growing reputation.

Personal information: Born in the heat of the British summer Los Chinches brought together a diverse and dynamic mix of musicians who had all caught the Chicha bug. Taking influence from the raw, gritty sound of the early Peruvian pioneers and adding their own eclectic touch the band is creating a new sound.

Los Chinches interpretation of Chicha music is very much their own, with backgrounds in many musical styles from rock n' roll to jazz to Latin, fusing London's punk attitude and spirit with timeless Amazonian vibes. Their sound and live performance is a psychedelic burst of energy driven by a fierce frontline of percussion.

Los Chinches have enjoyed a whirl wind year of shows in the UK, rocking venues all over London such as The Barbican (as part of La Linea festival) The Green Note, Cargo and Passing Clouds (for Arriba la Cumbia and Movimientos). They’ve also appeared at some of the UK's most prestigious and exciting festivals including Lovebox, The Secret Garden Party and a headline slot at the Club DaDa tent at Bestival.
