The Essential Ibrahim Ferrer
[Manteca MANTDBL503]
Another of the Buena Vista Social Club line up of course and a collection that features 32 tracks with about half of them from 1960 and the rest through to 1988. Born in a nightclub in 1927 and then orphaned at 12 leading to a life literally singing for his supper on the streets. He began singing professionally in 1941 but by the time, many years later, that Buena Vista Social Club was formed he was once more scratching a living on the street, shining shoes & selling lottery tickets. Here's a chance to remember another legend of Cuban music, a master of son and bolero at work. Golden. Graham Radley
